Meshtective — privacy policy
Updated: November 2026. Meshtective is made by mef.space ([email protected]). This policy explains what the app processes and why.
AI on your device
The language model that writes the characters’ lines runs entirely on your device. Your cases, answers and texts are not sent anywhere. The model itself is downloaded once through Google Play.
Analytics and crash reports
We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (Google). Analytics records game events such as the start and end of a case, whether it was solved and how many questions were used, along with device and app information and an app-instance identifier. Crashlytics sends crash reports with technical details of the device and app. We use this to fix errors and improve the game. We do not collect your name, contacts or the content of your games.
Advertising
The app shows ads through Appodeal and its partner ad networks. To show and measure ads they may use the advertising identifier of your device, its IP address and technical information. In the EEA and the UK you will be asked for consent; you can change your choice and reset or delete the advertising identifier in the system settings.
Playing with friends
At one table (Bluetooth). Phones exchange game messages directly over Bluetooth. Location is not used; on Android 11 and older the system requires the location permission to scan for Bluetooth devices, but the app does not read your location.
Over the internet (Nostr). Game messages go through public relays of the open Nostr network. They are encrypted with a key derived from the room code, so relays only see encrypted data, its timing and your IP address. The app creates a one-time key for each game; there are no accounts. Messages are sent as ephemeral events that relays forward but are not meant to store.
The name you enter is shown only to the players of your room.
Camera
The camera is used only to scan the QR code of a friend’s room. Images are not saved or sent.
Children
The game is not directed at children under 13.
